Sicily, February 2026
We travelled around Sicily by car. From Catania to Gangi, Castelbuono, Pollina, Cefalù, Mondello and Palermo, and back through Carlentini, Lentini and Brucoli to Catania.
The weather changed all the time, from heavy rain, storms, and then sunshine again. Sicily in February can be full of contrasts.
We passed through narrow streets and quiet mountain towns. Wild fennel and prickly pear were growing everywhere. We met many cats, a donkey, goats, pigeons, and a goose along the way. Palermo was messy and full of life. We drove long, endless, winding roads. The atmosphere was strong and sometimes overwhelming.
I took photos during the trip and share a small selection here.
I would love to come back one day, for the cannoli, the history, the old cathedrals, the nature and the special energy of the island.
